Ok, so I have a problem...
I'm an art project addict. Art stores are particularly dangerous to my wallet as they tend to bombard my overly excitable right brain with myriad new mediums and possibilities as I wander the aisles. In the past 4 months I've dabbled in painting (canvas, doors, and windows), sketching (pencil, charcoal, pastel), mosaicking (guitar), crochet (I'll finish a blanket within my lifetime, I swear), and just downright doodling (sharpies and tombow markers will forever be my artistic drug of choice).
Recently though, I've been hit with inspiration:
The kind where it stops life until you find the time to complete the shiny wonder dancing in your imagination. Which is awesome, as long as I don't allow myself to become lost to it and blow off the important day to day life stuff (dishes, school, calling Mom to let her know I'm still alive...). In fact, as a general rule, I tend to be better when I'm creating art. I'm sure it has to do with feeling a sort of revived purpose through creative expression.
So... why is this blog-worthy?
Awesome question. First, I told my Nana I'd post pictures so she could see them (gold star for Kate!). More importantly though, I had a couple of great conversations as a result of carrying my sketch book with me. When I revealed that I'd only started sketching this way again a few weeks ago, my epic and supportive friends were first appalled that I had ever stopped. This flattering reaction lent to an obvious question though: "What got you back into it?"- Overwhelming freedom and joyful dancing.
- Being stressed over little and choosing daily to actively seek my bliss.
- I saw new markers and went from "cool" to "MINE" in 6 seconds flat...
Take your pick.

So, whatever your reason, I encourage you to actively seek your bliss. Remember a moment where you felt purpose and then try to recreate that feeling. Pull out an old hobby or pursue a new one; it doesn't matter which. Challenge yourself to stretch a bit today and then stand back and be amazed.
